1 Chronicles 16:39

And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,

The ark of the covenant had been brought to Jerusalem and set in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it, yet the old tabernacle of the congregation made by Moses in the wilderness did not move with it but remained at Gibeon. Before that tabernacle stood the brazen altar made by Bezalel, still in its place at the high place. David left Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests there before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place at Gibeon.

Their appointed work was to offer burnt offerings to the Lord upon the altar of burnt offering continually, morning and evening. In doing so they were to do according to all that was written in the law of the Lord commanded to Israel. Early in his reign Solomon went to Gibeon with the captains, judges, governors, and chief fathers because that was where God's tabernacle still was. There he offered a thousand burnt offerings upon that brazen altar. That great offering was a token of his and his counselors' sense of insufficiency for their responsibilities and of their earnest desire for special help, quickness of mind, largeness of heart, and tenderness of spirit in reconsecration to God's service.
