Levite Choir Sings the Psalms of Asaphby KandD

1 Chronicles 16:4

And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

David appointed certain Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord. Their appointed work was to record and to thank and praise the God of Israel. By that appointment the service of song became a regular part of worship. Psalms were composed both for the priests to use in sanctuary service and for the people to sing on their journeys to the national altar at the annual feasts. This worship before the ark renewed interest in the sanctuary and zeal for Jehovah, and helped free Israel from idolatry.
