1 Chronicles 16:40

To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;

After the ark of the covenant was brought to Jerusalem and set in the tent David had pitched for it, the old tabernacle of the congregation made by Moses remained at Gibeon. That tabernacle stood in the high place at Gibeon apart from the ark's new resting place. David left Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests before that tabernacle to minister there. Their appointed work was to offer burnt offerings to the Lord upon the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening. They were to do all according to what was written in the law of the Lord which He had commanded Israel. Because that lawful sacrificial worship continued at Gibeon, Solomon early in his reign went there with his leaders to seek God and offer sacrifices.
