According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.
David himself first conceived the design of building a house worthy of the divine majesty, and he opened his mind concerning it to the prophet Nathan. Nathan spoke to David according to all these words and according to all this vision, conveying fully what God had given him about the house of God. That faithful speaking also carried all that God had given concerning David's own house and kingdom. God accepted David's good intentions while refusing him the honor of building the house. David provided the materials for the house before his death, though the edifice itself was raised by his son Solomon.
