1 Chronicles 17:6
Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars? Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?
David was troubled to dwell himself in a palace of cedar while the ark, the symbol of God's presence, still remained in the tabernacle, and the verse belongs to God's answer to that concern. When David shared his plan to build a temple, Nathan at first encouraged him to proceed. God, however, had appointed other work for David, and He chose Solomon to build the house for Him instead.
