1 Chronicles 19:3
But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?
Hanun had come to the throne after the death of his father when David sent servants to him on an errand of comfort. The princes of the children of Ammon questioned Hanun whether he truly believed David meant to honor his father by sending these comforters. They insisted instead that his servants had come to search out the country and to spy out the land with a view to its overthrow.
