1 Chronicles 2:34

Now Sheshan had no sons, but daughters. And Sheshan had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Jarha.

Sheshan had no sons but daughters, and his servant, an Egyptian, was named Jarha. This detail stands within Judah's carefully preserved genealogy, the family record of the tribe through which Christ came. Such genealogies provided records of hereditary descent needed after the exile for assigning land and carrying out temple duties.

Together with the next verse it shows that Sheshan's daughter married Jarha and their descendants were included in Sheshan's family line, proving that the children of servants among the Israelites were free. Its detailed genealogical record shows that God is particular and that a faithful record of each soul is kept in heaven. Its place in the list shows that God remembers people by name, including those whose lives and names have been forgotten by later generations.
