1 Chronicles 2:49

She bare also Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbenah, and the father of Gibea: and the daughter of Caleb was Achsah.

This verse belongs to the long genealogical lists in Chronicles, and to the carefully preserved genealogy of Judah, the sons of Judah. Those lists name people who lived their lives and passed away thousands of years ago, whom nobody knows anything about and who have been forgotten by others. They may be difficult to understand or seem to have little value.

Even so, they are included in the Bible's inspired record of the origin and distribution of peoples. They preserve the line of Judah, the tribe through which Christ came. The verse shows that God remembers them all, every one of them by name, whether prosperous or failures. Because God is not the changing kind, He still remembers unknown, downhearted, and failing people today by name, and their names are put away safe and sure somewhere in His lists, which gives comfort.
