1 Chronicles 22:15
Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work. Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.
David had gathered and made ready for Solomon an abundance of workmen for erecting the temple, hewers and workers in stone and timber and skillful men for every sort of work. The provision included stonecutters, timber workers, and craftsmen skilled in every kind of labor needed for the building. The work was not meant to be borne by one man or by a few, but by many different workers each contributing his own ability. David's part was to prepare the materials and to give counsel, while Solomon was to take the lead in carrying forward the building work thus prepared for him. In this the older workers were to sustain capable successors in their appointed leading work rather than hinder them.
The verse also shows that the Lord Himself had already supplied Solomon with everything required for building the temple, including plenty of skilled laborers for every kind of work. It reveals His ever-present desire to surround His people with protecting care, to bless them above all other peoples, and to keep them in purity, provided they remain closely connected with Him. Solomon was favored by God with wisdom, and with riches and honor besides, on condition that he walk in the ways of the Lord and keep His statutes and His judgments. His turning aside to other nations to secure facilities for the temple, when he could have built it with what the Lord had provided, was a departure from God, and such departure brings sorrow as seen in Solomon's experience.
