1 Chronicles 25:20

The thirteenth to Shubael, he, his sons, and his brethren, were twelve:

The thirteenth course named in the verse was one of twenty-four courses of temple musicians organized by David when Solomon was placed on the throne to perfect the ministration of priests and Levites. The four thousand musicians were divided into those twenty-four courses, with each course numbering twelve men made up of its leader together with his sons and his brethren. Every man in each course was especially instructed and skilful in the use of musical instruments. This arrangement reflects a carefully studied plan of apportioning special duties to the men best fitted for those duties.
