Heman and His Children Praise With Cymbals and Harpby emmanuel_higgins

1 Chronicles 25:5

All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

In its setting, the verse reflects a careful plan of assigning special duties to the men best fitted for them, a plan brought to completion in organizing all branches of the priests and Levites for service under Solomon. The sons of Heman belonged to four thousand musicians who were divided into twenty-four courses. Each course was led by twelve men who were specially instructed and skillful in the use of musical instruments.
