The singers and players were set apart for song in the house of the Lord, working under the hands of their father and under appointed leadership for the service of the house of God. Their worship was rendered with cymbals and psalteries and harps, instruments assigned to the service according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman. They were arranged in twenty-four courses for orderly ministry, so that every course had its place in the continual worship. Each course was directed by twelve men who had been specially instructed and made skillful in the use of instruments.
