A Levite Examines a Golden Bowl in the Treasuryby emmanuel_higgins

1 Chronicles 26:20

And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.

Ahijah, a Levite, was set over the treasures of the house of God and over the treasures of the dedicated things. His charge embraced both the regular stores belonging to God's house and the separate accumulations that had been consecrated for sacred use. This appointment belonged to David's carefully ordered administration, in which trusted men were selected and given work suited to their abilities. The dedicated treasures under such stewardship included gifts presented by David himself, by the leaders and military officers of Israel, and by earlier leaders including Samuel, Saul, Abner, and Joab.
