1 Chronicles 26:30

And of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven hundred, were officers among them of Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of the LORD, and in the service of the king.

The closing chapters of 1 Chronicles describe the establishment of worship under David and his preparations for building the temple. Levites served Israel beyond Jerusalem, with 1,700 Hebronites west of the Jordan placed over all the business of the Lord and the service of the king. Alongside them, other Levites held the outward business and governed the tribes east of the Jordan. In this way their work joined sanctuary service with civil administration throughout the kingdom.
