1 Chronicles 26:32
And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
King David made 2,700 men of valour, who were chief fathers or Levite family heads, into rulers. Their charge extended beyond Jerusalem over the eastern tribes, namely the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh. They were responsible for both kinds of business among those tribes, for every matter pertaining to God and affairs of the king, meaning religious as well as civic matters, as part of the Levites' service of overseeing those tribes.
