1 Chronicles 26:8

All these of the sons of Obed-edom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, were threescore and two of Obed-edom.

This verse belongs to the account of David's plans for the service of the house of God. It stands within the record of the establishment of worship under David and his preparations for building the temple. Obed-edom's family numbered sixty-two men, his sons and his brethren, who were able men with strength for the service. He was a Levite of the Kohathite family, and his title Gittite is explained by his coming from Gath-rimmon, a Levitical city belonging to the Kohathites.
