1 Chronicles 27:12
The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abi-ezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abi-ezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
The verse belongs to David's final preparations, where the last chapters of 1 Chronicles describe the establishment of worship under David, his preparations for the temple, and Solomon's accession under God's blessing. Within that setting the chapter concerns arrangements for the temple services and the affairs of the kingdom. More specifically it lists the regular monthly divisions of Israel's army with a captain for each month, and this verse names the ninth captain for the ninth month.
The twelve monthly assignments show that the biblical year was organized into twelve months. This twelve-month pattern supports the use of a 360-day year in prophetic time when each month is counted as thirty days. The regular monthly divisions may explain why the army totals in 1 Chronicles 21 differ from those in 2 Samuel 24, in that Chronicles may have included the regular army while Samuel did not, which is offered as a possible explanation rather than a certainty.
