1 Chronicles 27:13
The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand. The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
The list in 1 Chronicles 27:1-15 divides the year into twelve months, with its own captain and a course of twenty-four thousand men for each month. Those months were regulated by the new moons. The enrollment is David's regular army divisions. That standing record may explain the difference between the army totals in 1 Chronicles 21 and 2 Samuel 24, since the Chronicler may have included the regular army while Samuel did not. Taken with the Bible's thirty-day month, this twelve-month pattern gives a year of three hundred and sixty days for reckoning prophetic time.
