And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai: And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:
David administered his own property by assigning specific men to oversee its separate divisions. Over the herds feeding in Sharon he placed Shitrai the Sharonite, and over the herds in the valleys he placed Shaphat the son of Adlai. Each man received a defined charge corresponding to a distinct place and class of livestock. These herd overseers were selected because their experience and training fitted them for the duties entrusted to them.
