1 Chronicles 29:30

With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.

This account belongs to the closing period of David's reign, when his rule and strength are summed up in retrospect. In his final public address he committed the work of building the temple to his son Solomon as successor. At the same time he solemnly charged the assembled Israel to remain obedient to God. His reign and might are thus set within the broader course of events that passed over him personally, over Israel as a nation, and over all the kingdoms of the surrounding lands.
