1 Chronicles 3:18

Malchiram also, and Pedaiah, and Shenazar, Jecamiah, Hoshama, and Nedabiah.

This list of sons stands within the carefully preserved genealogical record of the tribe of Judah, set among long records of names and chronology. Those extended genealogical passages are often regarded as dry and uninteresting, and this verse is not as interesting or instructive as passages such as the Gospels or Romans 8. Its place there shows that genealogical records belong to Scripture and were preserved for instruction.

It shows the preservation of the records of God's children and the integrity of the tribes. The line through which Christ came was kept unbroken until Christ's first coming, because Jesus came from Judah and David's family as prophecy foretold. The keeping of such genealogies also shows that God is particular and keeps in heaven a faithful record of every soul.
