1 Chronicles 4:20

And the sons of Shimon were, Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were, Zoheth, and Ben-zoheth.

The verse stands within the long lists of names that fill the first eight opening chapters of Chronicles, lists that record names together with other events. Those lists give particular attention to Judah and to the priesthood. It belongs to the carefully preserved genealogy of Judah, a record that preserves the integrity of the tribes. Judah's line holds special significance because Christ came through it.

Individual names like these were preserved in the records of God's people. Such careful keeping of genealogies points to a faithful record of every soul in heaven. Its place among these lists shows that an inspired passage need not be equally interesting or valuable to every reader or in every circumstance.
