1 Chronicles 6:32
And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order. And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order.
The verse stands in the extended chronological record of 1 Chronicles 4-19, a portion largely made up of genealogy that is often regarded as dry and uninteresting. Within that record it belongs to the long lists of Judah and Levi that preserve people by name. Despite its setting among names, it is one of the beautiful gems that illuminate the long record. It shows God's preservation of the records of His children and the integrity of the tribes, especially in the carefully kept genealogy of Judah through whom Christ came, and its place among the named lists shows that God remembers even people whose lives are little known.
It shows that David reorganized the sanctuary services. He regulated the duties of the priesthood. That reorganization rested on God's promise of a faithful priest who would act according to God's will.
