1 Chronicles 6:50

And these are the sons of Aaron; Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,

Chronicles forms a single book set in the third division of the Jewish ordering, called Words or Acts of Days, called Things omitted or passed over in the Septuagint, and called Chronica in Latin. Its opening nine chapters are minutes of events and lists of names for the various tribes, with matters of special interest thrown in from time to time. In contrast with Kings, this history gives far greater attention to the house of Judah and to the priesthood.

This verse stands within those tribal lists and genealogies, giving the family line of Aaron through Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, and Abishua his son. As part of the record of names it preserves the genealogy of Aaron's line and shows how carefully Israel's tribal records were kept. The line it traces declares the unbroken continuity of Aaron's priesthood, which lasted until the Jewish nation came to an end and was superseded by Christ.
