1 Chronicles 6:59

And Ashan with her suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with her suburbs:

Ashan with her suburbs and Beth-shemesh with her suburbs stands in the lists and genealogies of the various tribes found in the first nine chapters of Chronicles. Those opening nine chapters consist almost wholly of genealogies. Within that genealogical material the verse belongs to the tribal and priestly listing, specifically to the long list of the sons of Levi and their towns. That placing reflects how the book gives much more attention to the house of Judah and the priesthood than Kings does.

Chronicles originally forms one book in the third part of the Jewish arrangement, called Words or Acts of Days, meaning minutes of events, lists of names and the like. In the Septuagint it is called Things omitted or passed over, while the common name comes from the Latin Chronica. The list comforts the downhearted because it shows that God remembers each person by name, including people forgotten by others.
