1 Chronicles 6:70

And out of the half tribe of Manasseh; Aner with her suburbs, and Bileam with her suburbs, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath.

Chronicles forms one book in the third part of the Jewish arrangement called Words or Acts of Days, meaning minutes of events, lists of names, and the like. Within that book this verse stands in the first nine chapters, which give lists and genealogies of the various tribes. Compared with Kings, Chronicles gives much more attention to the house of Judah and the priesthood.

The verse records that Aner with her suburbs and Bileam with her suburbs were given to the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath from out of the half tribe of Manasseh. As part of the Chronicles genealogies it contributes to the careful preservation of Israel's tribal and family records. It belongs to a long genealogical list whose names can be difficult to read aloud. That list comforts those who feel forgotten, showing that God remembers each person by name, including people whose lives and deeds are no longer known to others.
