1 Chronicles 7:3
And the sons of Uzzi; Izrahiah: and the sons of Izrahiah; Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Ishiah, five: all of them chief men. And the sons of Uzzi; Izrahiah: and the sons of Izrahiah; Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Ishiah, five: all of them chief men.
The line traces descent from Uzzi to Izrahiah and then to Izrahiah's five sons — Michael, Obadiah, Joel, Ishiah, and one further son — and describes all five as chief men. It belongs to the lists and genealogies of the various tribes that fill the first nine chapters of Chronicles. Those chapters are minutes of events and lists of names called Words or Acts of Days.
The longer record of names in 1 Chronicles 4-19, in which the line stands, deals largely with chronology. As part of those genealogical records it helped establish hereditary descent and family standing. It shows the preservation of the records of God's children and the integrity of the tribes, with genealogies carefully preserved especially in the tribe of Judah through whom Christ came.
The careful recording of such names and family lines points to God keeping a faithful record of every soul in the books of heaven.
