1 Chronicles 8:15

And Zebadiah, and Arad, and Ader,

And Zebadiah, and Arad, and Ader stands in the long lists of names and genealogies that open 1 Chronicles, reckoned as the first eight chapters, as 1 Chronicles 4-19, and as 1 Chronicles 7-9 within 1 Chronicles 4-26. Those lists of names and chronology are often regarded as less interesting or useful, tedious, dry, and uninteresting to readers. They form part of the Bible's record of the origin and distribution of peoples, preserve the records of God's children and the integrity of the tribes by preserving recorded names, and can interest scholars studying ethnology. Even so, the record is illuminated here and there by beautiful gems, for spiritual truths are found along that path of study.

The preservation of names in the genealogies teaches that God keeps a faithful record of every soul in heaven. The larger section of 1 Chronicles 4-26 is to be compared with the same record in Samuel with the exception of the genealogies. That comparison gives attention to 1 Chronicles 4:9, 10 on the reason men were truly mighty and to 1 Chronicles 5:20, and to the work of David, the division of his armies, the work he did, his virtues and mistakes, and God's mercy and guidance.
