1 Chronicles 8:35

And the sons of Micah were, Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz.

And the sons of Micah were, Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz as part of the long genealogies of names and ancestry in the early chapters of Chronicles, in the first eight chapters and in the lists of 1 Chronicles 4-19 and 1 Chronicles 7-9. It belongs to a long, tedious record of hard-to-pronounce names that holds little particular interest in itself. The record preserves the account of God's children and the integrity of the tribes.

After the exile these genealogical records served a practical purpose in establishing hereditary claims to land and the right to carry out temple service. Its place in the Bible shows that inspired Scripture includes detailed records of names and ancestry, which may interest scholars studying the origin and distribution of peoples, while spiritual truths are also found along the way. It shows that God is particular: as He instructed His people to keep genealogies and moved His scribes to record them, so a faithful record of each soul is kept in the books of heaven. It belongs to the genealogies of which only those of Judah and Levi were kept unbroken until Christ's first advent, because Jesus was to be of the tribe of Judah and the family of David according to prophecy and the Aaronic priesthood had to continue until the Jews ceased as a nation and Christ's priesthood superseded it.
