1 Corinthians 16:10
Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do. Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.
Timothy carries out the Lord's work in exactly the same manner as Paul carries it out. Paul's carrying out of that work makes him a pattern demonstrating that a minister must embody the truth in life as well as impart it in teaching. That work is God's own work still in progress in a world where sin abounds, and he advances it through men.
It consists in proclaiming the gospel of salvation to the world and to lost humanity, making it known and bringing it to bear upon sinners, including preaching among the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ. It embraces the sacrifice of Christ, the ministry of angels, and the service rendered by Christ's followers. It is the same blessed work carried forward in the days of the prophets and the apostles, still present in the world to accomplish God's purpose, still committed to his people, and requiring their faithful and loyal service.
