The church in the house means the family itself becomes a church in its own home when it stands separated from the world. In that separation its members help one another and work to refine and uplift one another. By doing so they prove to be the Lord's living agents.
This requires refusing by deliberate choice to associate with the wicked and to practice the evil ways condemned by God's law, for such association and practice deteriorate character and bring the truth into condemnation. It requires not following natural inclination toward pleasure-loving amusements, for indulgence enfeebles love for what is pure and holy and leads to catching the spirit and love of the world. It requires treating time as precious and not squandering it in trifling vanities and pleasures, for such waste brings great loss.
