1 Corinthians 16:7

For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.

Paul had formed a definite intention to come to Corinth after departing from Ephesus and to see the believers there a second time on his way back through Macedonia. The statement belongs to a short notice in which he laid out that two-stage itinerary for his coming visit. It was not a passing remark but a brief, deliberate announcement of when and how he expected to reach them.
