1 Corinthians 8:2

And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

To think oneself wise or to suppose one knows much is still not to know as one ought to know, and is to lack true knowledge. Greater knowledge brings a deeper awareness of one's own limits, and it produces humility rather than proud claims. True knowledge requires meekness and lowliness learned from Christ.

It values what Heaven regards as excellent, especially the knowledge of Scripture that leads to salvation. Such valuing does not rely on the world's standards of excellence. This knowledge is gained by diligent, thoughtful study of Scripture, comparing passage with passage to grasp its meaning and discover its spiritual riches. Having to work with those who think they know everything lays a heavy load on those who must work with them.
