1 Corinthians 8:6
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
There is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things as their source, and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things as their agent. God has at all times revealed himself to humanity through Christ. The one who spoke the law, who called Moses into the mount at Sinai and talked with him, was the Lord Jesus Christ.
In contrast to lords many and gods many, believers hold that there is but one living and true God. The lords many and gods many are people who set themselves to explain God's principles and providences by their own philosophy and supposed science, accounting for creation, plagues, earthquakes, and famines as mere laws of nature. Such teachers present strange fire in place of the divine and mingle the sacred with the unsacred, and this brings confusion into the world. Against that confusion stands the one God, whose hand is beneath the wheels of earth and heaven, bringing perfect order from confusion, and who is a necessity everywhere.
