1 Corinthians 9:15
But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void. But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
Paul deliberately used none of his right to material support, though he could justly have claimed it from the Corinthians and from others he served. He gave up that right to prevent any suspicion that he preached the gospel for financial gain or for money. Such suspicion would weaken the effect and force of his message and would damage his usefulness. His willingness to surrender what was due him protected his work and ministry from misrepresentation.
