1 Kings 1:37

As the LORD hath been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.

The verse belongs to the account of Adonijah's attempted seizure of the throne and Solomon's succession to David. Solomon was the ruler God had appointed, so his succession came by divine direction. David decisively appointed Solomon as king and abdicated in his favor. Solomon was immediately anointed and proclaimed king, which affirmed his succession and thwarted Adonijah's rebellion. The verse is Benaiah's prayer that God would be with Solomon as He had been with David and would make Solomon's throne greater than David's, asking for God's favor and the strengthening of his kingdom.
