1 Kings 1:41
And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar? And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?
Adonijah and all the guests with him heard the uproar of the city just as they had finished eating, and that hearing broke in upon his feast and his attempt to seize the throne. Amid the general noise Joab picked out the sound of the trumpet and asked what the commotion in the city meant. The tumult was the outcry over Solomon, who had been anointed and proclaimed king, and that proclamation defeated the conspiracy.
