1 Kings 11:32

(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

This word belongs to Ahijah's prophecy about Jeroboam, that one tribe would remain under David's house. God would not remove the whole kingdom, but would leave one tribe under Solomon's house while giving ten tribes to Jeroboam. That remaining tribe was preserved for David's sake and for Jerusalem's sake as the city God had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel. The division was a chastisement for Solomon's apostasy and the people's idolatry, contrasting David's faithfulness with Solomon's disloyalty. Jeroboam's reign and Israel's apostasy are connected with the later fulfillment in which Israel would be punished and scattered.
