1 Kings 14:13
And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam. And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.
The declaration stands within God's judgment pronounced upon Jeroboam for turning the children of Israel away from God into idolatry. That apostasy was not mere formality, but a course in which terrible evils were both performed and permitted. The course grew out of a selfish, rebellious spirit that shaped the plans Jeroboam devised and put into operation. As Judge of all the earth, God lays to his charge the awful results that followed from that course.
The same spirit remains a present danger, for men today may manifest it and carry forward a work similar in character to his work. All who follow his example place themselves under the same principle of divine reckoning. To the charge of every such person will be laid the results of his own wrong course.
