1 Kings 14:19

And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

1 Kings 14:19 belongs to the account of Jeroboam, who led the ten tribes in revolt and practiced idolatry. It stands in the history of the divided kingdoms of Israel and Judah, recounting the reigns of kings in both kingdoms, with the surrounding history following the later kings. That history covers about eighty years from the revolt of the ten tribes to the death of Jehoshaphat. It belongs to the account of Israel's kings before the northern kingdom was overthrown in 721 B.C.

The verse refers to Jeroboam's wars and reign and points to the royal chronicle of the kings of Israel where the rest of his deeds were recorded. That chronicle represents the court records kept by appointed secretaries, distinct from prophetic histories written about certain kings for study by Israel's youth. The annals of the kings of Israel and Judah mentioned in Scripture are now lost and had only human authority.

The biblical account to which the verse belongs describes an event more fully in 2 Chronicles 12, the campaign of Shishak against Judah. That campaign is corroborated by the Karnak temple inscription listing places captured during the campaign, including Jerusalem.
