1 Kings 20:10

And Ben-hadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.

Ben-hadad's message was a boastful threat against Ahab and the people of Samaria. He claimed that his followers were so numerous that the dust of the city would not suffice to give even a handful to each one of them. It belongs to the account of Ben-hadad, the Syrian king, and his attacks on Samaria and Israel. After his first siege failed, he returned the next year with a large army.

God gave Ahab victory over that challenge through a prophet's warning, showing that the victory came from Jehovah. Israel defeated the Syrians, and Ben-hadad was defeated and surrendered to Israel's king. The events surrounding the verse show another effort by God to win the weak Ahab.
