1 Kings 20:17

And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben-hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.

The verse belongs to the account of the defeat of Ben-hadad, king of Syria, while he was besieging Samaria. It records the moment in that siege when the young men of the princes of the provinces went out of the city first. Their appearance was reported to Ben-hadad by his scouts as men come out of Samaria.

The sortie was made by 232 princes, a small Israelite band leading the attack out of Samaria against the Syrians. That small force put the Syrian army to flight, and Ben-hadad himself escaped on a horse. The great victory that followed was given by God to make clear to Ahab that it came from Jehovah, another effort by God to win the weak king.
