1 Kings 20:3

Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.

1 Kings 20:3 stands in the history of the two separate kingdoms of Judah and Israel for about eighty years, from the revolt of the ten tribes to the death of Jehoshaphat, a span that gives the reigns of several kings of both Judah and Israel. It is Ben-hadad's demand in his assault on Ahab, when the king of Syria came against Israel with a mighty army and boasted against Israel's God. In that episode God sent a prophet to warn and reprove Ahab and then gave him a great victory so that he would know the victory came from Jehovah. The surrounding account of Ahab's reign presents him as one who wickedly gave himself to the worship of heathen gods and afterward imposed that worship on Israel.
