1 Kings 22:10
And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them. And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
Ahab the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his own throne, clothed in royal robes, in the open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them. That gathering was a public royal audience in which the kings were enthroned to hear counsel for war. There the prophets urged the kings to go up to battle at Ramoth-gilead with confident assurances of victory. Their prediction proved false, while Micaiah's contrary warning of defeat was fulfilled.
In the same account Ahab set himself against Micaiah because Micaiah prophesied evil concerning him rather than good. Such hostility reveals the response of those whose course of life stands opposed to God's warnings. When the truth exposes their wrongdoing, they reject the messenger and the message that condemns them.
