But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee? Micaiah stood before Ahab to deliver the Lord's warning against the planned battle, while the king's other prophets were promising victory. His warning was the true word, yet both kings rejected it and went forward with their plan. The outcome proved him right, for the army suffered defeat in battle and Ahab himself was killed.
