1 Kings 22:38
And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake. And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spake.
The verse records the fulfillment of the Lord's word of judgment against Ahab in his death. He died at the hands of the Syrians less than three years after judgment was pronounced against him through Elijah. The fate of his blood shows the consequences of Israel's apostasy and of setting aside God's law. His fearful end was a warning that Ahaziah had witnessed and knew. But Ahaziah dismissed it as an idle tale and ignored it, continuing in idolatry by seeking guidance from Baal-zebub.
