1 Kings 22:39
Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
This formal summary brings the history of Ahab's reign to its close. Before that close, Elijah confronted Ahab in Naboth's vineyard with God's charge that he had killed and taken possession, and with the sentence of evil to come upon Ahab and upon his house. Because Ahab humbled himself in sackcloth and fasting, God deferred the threatened evil against his house until his son's days. Ahab himself died less than three years afterward, slain at the hands of the Syrians. After his death his son Ahaziah succeeded him as king.
