Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. He followed the example of his father Asa, doing what was right in the sight of the Lord. He remained loyal to God and sought Him, rather than seeking Baal.
Although many of the people still worshiped at the high places, Jehoshaphat over time removed those shrines from Judah. With them he cleared away other corrupt practices, bringing the kingdom into closer conformity with right worship.
