1 Kings 3:18
And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
This verse belongs to the account in which Solomon resolved the dispute between two mothers over a helpless baby and restored the child to its true and unfortunate mother. That settlement was an act of wisdom joined with sympathy and compassion for the helpless.
It belonged to his early reign, when he maintained allegiance to God, mastery of himself, moral efficiency, fine sensibilities, and a clear conscience. That early character stands in sharp contrast to his later fall so low as to consent to the erection of an idol to whom living children were offered as sacrifices.
