1 Kings 4:13
The son of Geber, in Ramoth-gilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars: The son of Geber, in Ramoth-gilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:
The verse belongs to the first eleven chapters of 1 Kings, which give the history of the kingdom of Israel under Solomon, who followed Saul and David and came before the division of the kingdom under Rehoboam into Israel and Judah. Within that history it is part of the brief account, at the beginning of Solomon's reign, of the high officers he placed throughout the country to administer it and of the condition of his kingdom. Solomon's exceptional wisdom and understanding, including his knowledge of the natural world, together with his earthly greatness, were gifts from God.
His reign shows Israel at the height of its prosperity and power, when the people were numerous and contented. His fame spread to neighboring lands, so that rulers from many nations came to hear him.
